RESIDENTIAL CHILDREN'S WORKER

Up to £35,000PA

Blaenau Gwent

3 week rolling rota of 24hr shifts

Brook Street are recruiting for a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker within a children's residential setting based in rural Blaenau Gwent.

Requirements:

  • QCF Level 3 Health & Social Care Children and Young People.
  • A good knowledge of Risca Regulations & Care Home Compliance.
  • Full UK Drivers Licence ( Manual )
  • IT Literate : Microsoft Outlook, email, word, excel.
  • Good communication skills are essential both written and verbal.
  • 1 year experience with Autism and ESBD

The Role:

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will:

  • Support the manager and team leader in delivering high-quality residential childcare
  • Work as part of a team to meet the emotional, behavioural, and social needs of young people
  • Provide day-to-day care, support, and positive engagement for children with ASD, EBD, and SEN
  • Be a positive role model, promoting safety, well-being, and personal development
  • Help young people manage challenges and trauma in a therapeutic and caring environment
  • Key work assigned young people, create and review placement plans, and complete risk assessments
  • Contribute to inspections and quality outcomes
  • Promote independence, life skills, and healthy lifestyles
  • Use the PACE model, therapeutic parenting, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Engage in and lead activities such as outdoor education, camping, fishing, mountain walks, etc.
  • Take part in holidays and short breaks with residents when required

We're seeking experienced and passionate support workers who:

  • Understand the needs of children with ASD, EBD, ADHD, attachment disorders, and trauma
  • Have excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills
  • Can manage challenging behaviour using therapeutic and positive behaviour strategies
  • Are emotionally resilient, calm under pressure, and able to support children in crisis
  • Can complete clear and accurate records, reports, and safeguarding documentation
  • Are flexible, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile

Note: You must be flexible, able to work bank holidays and sleep-ins, and prepared to be part of an on-call rota.
