Job Description

Are you a dynamic and strong leader with excellent people skills who has experience of the operational management and commercial aspects of a business?

An exciting and new opportunity has arisen for an Enterprise Operational Manager to lead and develop social enterprises for the organisation in Cumbria. The overall aim will be to provide strategic support and direction to enable the enterprises to be financially sustainable and the learning needs of the people being supported are fully met.

The Role:
As a member of the Leadership team you will be responsible for being the main contact for the enterprises and will also manage the needs of the stakeholders, creating a joined up approach across all the enterprises, including the three cafes, pottery centre and a new horticultural centre.
Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead & Motivate a team to ensure a positive culture across the teams
  • Strategic support, budgeting and financial responsibilities to ensure profitable business
  • Training & development of teams plus regular appraisals and performance reviews
  • Work with the Enterprises and marketing teams to help manage & increase sales and community engagement
  • Health & safety aspects, and all compliance responsibilities

The ideal candidate:

  • You will ideally have a background in running successful business, whether retail or catering and with excellent business acumen
  • Strong leadership, organisational and team playing skills with the ability to lead from the front
  • Business degree/qualification
  • Experience of managing budgets to enable the financial sustainability of that business
  • Highly motivated, creative in your thinking and with a positive approach
