Job Description

Family Support Worker

Salary: £25,000-£26,000 per annum

Location: Bridgend

Hours: 40 hours a week

As a Family Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in promoting our mission, vision, and values. Your dedication to following policies, procedures, and relevant legislation will ensure the highest standards of care for the families that are supported.

Your responsibilities will include providing essential support to families as directed by experienced Shift Coordinators, 2nd Seniors, and Multi-Disciplinary Team. From assisting with cleaning and infection control to accompanying families in both the service and the community, you'll be a trusted companion and advocate every step of the way.

Building positive relationships with family members will be at the heart of your role, as you provide guidance and assistance in meeting their children's developing needs. Your calm, caring, yet assertive approach will foster trust and open communication, ensuring that the voices, views, and choices of families are heard and respected.

What you need to know:

  • Typical schedule of 3 weeks of day shifts followed by 1 week of night shifts, with a night enhancement rate.
  • Shift pattern is 12-hour shifts from 7:30 to 19:30 for day shifts and from 19:00 to 7:30 for night shifts.
  • Work schedule often involves 3 shifts one week and 4 shifts another.
  • Employees work 2 weekends every 4 weeks.
  • 3 weeks of training provided for new employees.
  • Starting salary at £12.04 per hour, with a likely increase to £12.50 per hour typically occurring within 12 weeks.
  • Sleep-in paid at £50 if required.
  • Standby rota in place with additional pay supplement.

What we need from you:

  • Already hold or willing to work towards your QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People)
  • Willing to register with Social Care Wales and complete All Wales Induction Framework during probation.
  • Minimum 1 year UK based experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children OR relevant UK health and social care qualification with some related work experience
  • Understanding of confidentiality issues and personal information disclosure.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have the Right to Work in the UK.
  • DBS on the update service is desirable
