Job Description
Interim SEND Student Support Programme Manager Bath & North East Somerset | £22.50 per hour | Full-time | Fixed-term (Aug 2025 - Jan 2026, potential to extend to Mar 2026)
Are you a confident leader with a passion for inclusive education and supporting young people with SEND? We're recruiting for an Interim SEND Student Support Programme Manager to help shape the future of alternative education across Bath and North East Somerset.
About the Role
This interim leadership role provides stability and strategic oversight across four specialist teams delivering alternative education and support services to young people with SEND. You'll manage team leaders responsible for:
Two post-16 alternative education programmes (in partnership with Bath College)
Pre-16 education support packages (commissioned by B&NES Council)
Wider inclusion support for students accessing the education offer
You'll ensure high standards in safeguarding, inclusive practice, and partnership working while supporting managers and practitioners to deliver exceptional student support.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Line manage and coach four team managers and their functions
Provide consistent leadership during a period of structural review
Foster collaboration and clear communication across teams
Safeguarding, Quality & Inclusion
Oversee safeguarding processes with support from the Designated Safeguarding Officer
Embed inclusive, person-centred practice across all services
Monitor and support quality of teaching, mentoring, and curriculum delivery
Partnership & Collaboration
Act as a key liaison with Bath College, B&NES Council, and other partners
Represent the organisation in multi-agency meetings, advocating for high-needs students
Contribute to strategic planning and service evaluation
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience managing teams or services supporting young people with SEND
Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice
Experience supporting excluded or vulnerable learners
Proven ability to lead through change in complex environments
Excellent communication and relational skills
Desirable:
Experience in interim leadership or during service restructures
Familiarity with EHCPs, alternative provision, and SEND funding
Relevant qualification in education, youth work, or social care
Knowledge of the B&NES local offer and South West SEND landscape
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
