Life Skills Coach
Salary: £24,814
Location: Leicester

Job Role: Life Skills Coach

We are currently seeking an experienced Life Skills Coach to join our team and support our client based in Leicester. Our client is dedicated to providing consistent, caring, and emotional support to children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old. If you have a background in working with children and young people, this role could be an excellent match for you.

Shift Pattern: Hours & Shift Pattern: 40 Hours - Working hours are from 8AM - 8PM - Monday to Friday & Occasional Weekends, 5 out of 7 days on a rota basis

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to young adults with complex needs.
  • Collaborate with service users to identify their needs and goals in areas such as accommodation, health and well-being, employment, education, and training.
  • Empower individuals to re-establish supportive networks and relationships.
  • Offer encouragement and training to enhance the skills of service users.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of childhood trauma and its impact on mental well-being, providing advice, guidance, and support.
  • Assist in the assessment of each young adult, engaging in supporting them to recognise their potential.
  • Support the constructive use of time by service users.
  • Identify the causes of challenging behaviour and other health needs, providing information, advice, guidance, and support.
  • Help young adults develop assertiveness and improve their communication skills.
  • Collaborate holistically with other partners to plan effective progression, identifying their support plan, and regularly recording and reviewing progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and notes for all young adults within the casework portfolio.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Certification in First Aid, Safeguarding, or Personal Safety.
  • Experience in handling challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of the legal framework for safeguarding children and adults.
  • Experience working with young people and adults in the areas of education and life skills.
  • Flexibility to travel and work different shifts.
  • Required Skills, Experience, & Knowledge
  • Experience working with children, young people, and young adults
  • Experience providing coaching sessions in relation to life-skills and personal development
  • Knowledge & understanding of children protection, and safeguarding
  • GCSE A*-C in Maths, English, Science - or equivalent
