Are you an experienced support worker with British Sign Language (BSL) skills? Would you like to make a real difference in the lives of two young men with profound deafness and complex communication needs?
We are looking for dedicated, person-centred Support Workers to provide meaningful, empowering support to two 23-year-olds transitioning into independent living. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new service and build strong, respectful relationships that centre around communication and connection.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and 2:1 care in a supported living setting
* Communicate using British Sign Language (BSL) - BSL proficiency is essential for this role
* Support daily living skills: cooking, cleaning, personal care, and routines
* Facilitate access to health appointments and administer medication
* Promote social inclusion through activities like swimming, gaming, deaf clubs, and conventions
* Use visual communication tools (VOCA, symbol boards, etc.)
* Accurately maintain care records and contribute to care planning
Essential Criteria:
* BSL Qualification - this is a core requirement due to the communication needs of the individuals
* Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or communication difficulties
* Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust
* Willingness to work flexibly, including weekends and a variable shift pattern
What We Offer:
* Competitive pay rates
* 20 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata)
* Matched pension contributions (up to 5%)
* Comprehensive induction and specialist training (including advanced BSL if needed)
* Wellbeing services: occupational health, counselling, and physiotherapy
* Discounts through our staff rewards scheme
* Cycle to Work Scheme
Ready to help build a life of independence, dignity, and inclusion? Apply today and bring your BSL skills to a team that truly values them.
