Job Description

Support Worker - Adults with Acquired Brain Injury Location: Weston-super-Mare Salary: £12.50 per hour Contract Type: Temporary / Flexible Shifts Available

Are you an experienced Support Worker with a calm, confident approach and a good sense of boundaries? Do you thrive in a team environment and know how to balance compassion with consistency? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Service This is a well-staffed, 7-bedded residential home supporting adults with acquired brain injuries. The individuals here may be vocal and occasionally display challenging behaviours such as shouting or slamming doors-but they also enjoy engaging with staff, going out into the community, and living life on their own terms. There is no personal care required, and no lone working-you'll always have the support of your team.

Each service user has a detailed pen picture available to help you understand their preferences, routines, and communication styles before you begin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting residents with daily routines including cooking, cleaning, and household tasks

  • Accompanying individuals on walks, shopping trips, and outings using public transport

  • Managing behaviours with consistency and confidence-knowing when to say "no" and stick to boundaries

  • Building rapport while maintaining professional standards

  • Reading and following care plans and pen pictures to ensure tailored support

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working with adults with acquired brain injury or similar needs

  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and setting clear boundaries

  • A proactive, resilient, and team-oriented attitude

  • Ability to follow routines and support independence

  • Willingness to engage in everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning

Why Join Us

  • Supportive team environment-no lone working

  • Clear guidance through pen pictures and care plans

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a well-run, structured setting

  • Flexible shifts to suit your schedule

If you're ready to bring your experience, empathy, and assertiveness to a team that values quality care and teamwork, apply today and help us support adults in Weston-super-Mare to live fulfilling lives.
