Job Description
Domestic Abuse Advisor (IPA/IDVA)
Cardiff
Part Time
We are working with a wonderful Cardiff based charity who provide support to women and children who are seeking refuge and advise from domestic abuse.
This is a part time role working 14 hours per week on a Saturday and Sunday 7 hours each day.
Within this role you will act as first point of contact for all calls coming into the service on weekends and out of hours
identify and assess the risks and needs of those using the service by using the special intervention toolkit. You will prioritise cases and provide a proactive, short to medium term crisis intervention service through individual safety, support and recovery planning.
Process and contact all Public Protection Notices received in accordance with best practice.
You will be working with a caseload of diverse risks and need to ensure that all women and children whenever possible are supported through their journey by the same advisor.
Support, signpost and refer women and children to the children to the services they wish to engage with, such as; Social Services, the police, DWP and educational services.
You will participate in the case management and supervision system and deliver internal and external training when required.
The experience and skills that we are looking for;
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse and the impact of domestic abuse
- Experience of working with vulnerable people, including families or young people
- Hold an IDVA certificate or relevant degree or similar experience
- Able to work in a stressful situation
