Job Description

Assistant Residential Support Worker - Children & Young People
Salary: £25,922 - £28,624 (pro rata for 25 hours per week)
Hours: Part-time, 25 hours per week

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? We are looking for committed and resilient individuals to join our team as Assistant Residential Support Workers in a secure, supportive, and structured environment that prioritises the welfare and development of the young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the best interests of children and young people, supporting them to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work proactively with children who may display challenging behaviours, ensuring they have access to advocacy and complaints procedures.
  • Act as a consistent advocate for the children and young people in your care.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally-verbally, non-verbally, and in writing.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and safeguard best practices.
  • Implement and follow behaviour management strategies, including those learned through MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) training.
  • Contribute to and implement care plans, risk assessments, and other associated documentation.
  • Work closely and sensitively with children, young people, their families, and multi-agency professionals.
  • Uphold safeguarding protocols and report any concerns in line with statutory guidance.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and high levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Appropriately challenge any inappropriate behaviour.
  • Administer and co-sign medication in line with Controlled Drugs and Medication Policies.

About You:

  • You hold or are willing to work towards a Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Children and Young People (CCYP), Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
  • You are committed to delivering excellent care and demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience.
  • You treat all individuals with respect and uphold professional standards of behaviour.
  • You are committed to ongoing learning and development and can adapt to a dynamic, sometimes challenging, care environment.
